Early Life
Shim Lin was born Liang-Shun Lim on September 25, 1991, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to Singapore-born parents. He is the second child in a family of three children. He holds both Canadian and American citizenship. He resides near Boston, Massachusetts.
He went to Action-Boxborough Regional High School and proceeded to the School of Music at Lee University in Tennessee, where he majorednin piano and telecommunications.
Career
Lim developed interest in magic at a very tender age of which his elder brother introduced him to magic. He taught himself various tricks by watching videos on YouTube.
He took part in the 2012 Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques World Championship where he finished in sixth place. He was offered the opportunity to tour across China after his amazing performance at the World Championship.
However, he won the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques World Championship for Close-Up card magic in 2015. He was contacted by the producers of Penn & Teller: Fool Us, a show where magicians attempt to fool hosts with their tricks.
He came to the limelight after emerging winner of the American Got Talent in 2018 and 2019. Ever since he rose to fame, he has appeared on talk shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Tonight Show, and The Today Show.
He made a special guest appearances at the second season of America’s Got Talent: The Champions, where he made cameo appearance as part of the trick performed by Britain’s Got Talent contestant Marc Spelmann, popularly called “Magician X”, and as part of the trick by AGT semi-finalist Colin Cloud.
