Karan Boolani was born on October 6, 1982, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, to parents Vijay Boolani, and Binu Boolani. His father Vijay Boolani is an engineer and entrepreneur and his mother Binu Boolani is a housewife. He is the eldest child in the family. He has a younger sister named Karishma Boolani, who is a Sports Scientist.
He went to Mahindra United World College of India for his high school education and proceeded to Bind University, in Australia, for his post-graduate. He had his master’s degree in Film and Television.

Karan Boolani began as a full time producer and director, and has worked with top brands like Nike, L’Oreal, Mastercard, and Pepsi.
He came through in 2008 as an assistant director with the film “Saas Bahu Aur Sensex”. He directed the TV series “24” in 2016, and also worked on the Netflix TV series “Selection Day” from 2018 to 2019. He directed the short video “Lisa Mishra: Nai Chaida”, in 2020.
