Early Life
Bad Bunny was born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio on March 10, 1994, in Almirante Sur, Puerto Rico. His father, Tito Martinez, was a truck driver, and his mother, Lysaurie Ocasio, is a retired school teacher. He has two brothers namely, Bernie and Bysael.
Career
Bad Bunny had an interest in music since he was 4 years old. He developed his passion with music influences from Hector Lavoe and Daddy Yankee.
He came through professionally on the digital music platform Soundcloud, where he published songs like “Get” in 2013, “Tentacion” in 2014, and “Just Let Me Know” in 2015.
He was signed by DJ Luian to his record label, after he caught the DJ’s attention with his song “Diles” on Soundclound, in 2016.
He came to the limelight for his song “Soy Peor”, which also reached number 19 on the Hot Latin Songs chart.
He was featured on Cardi B‘s single “I Like It” alongside J Balvin, in May 2018. In October of the same year, he released his collaboration with Drake titled “Mia”.
He released his debut album “X 100pre” in 2018, with features from Drake and Diplo. He released his second studio album titled “YHLQMDLG” (acronym for “Yo Hago Lo Que Me De La Gana, Spanish for “I Do Whatever I Want”), in 2020. The album features guest appearances from the likes of Anuel AA, Kendo Kaponi, Nesi, Yaviah, Nengo Flow and so on.
He released his third solo studio album “El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo (Spanish for “The Last Four of the World”) on Nivember 27, 2020. He followed up with his fourth studio album “Un Verano Sin Ti” on May 6, 2022. The album features the likes of Tony Dize, Rauw Alejandro, Jhay Cortez and so on.
