Early Life
Wiyaala was born Noella Wiyaala on December 22, 1986, in Wa, Ghana. She grew up in Funsi and Tumu with her three siblings, three sisters. She is originally from Tema, Ghana.
She went to Kanton Secondary and Kanton Secondary High School before proceeding to Takoradi Polytechnic where she majored on an art and design course.
Career
Wiyaala started performing at the age of 5 and got first singing lessons from her mother, a choir singer in the local church.
She joined the local music scene in Wa after secondary high school and began to perform at local events.
She came through with her first album Tuma (Work) in 2009. The album which is in Sissala language gave rise to local hits like “Dannu” and “Dirik”.
She made her way to Accra to audition for Ghana’s own “Stars of the Future”. She eventually got to the finals at the third attempt in 2011 where she won two Golden moments awards.
She was part of the Black N Peach before she left in April 2013, to pursue a solo career with Djimba World Records. She came to the limelight for her first release under the imprint titled “Make We Dance”. She also followed up with the single “Rock My Body”.
She came through with her official debut album “Wiyaala” in November 2014.
She made her acting debut in late 2013 with a role in the Viasat 1 comedy series MultiKoloured. She featured in her first movie No Man’s Land in February 2016.
