Early Life
Born Santiago Tomas Gimenez on April 18, 2001 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His father, Christian Gimenez, was a footballer who played with Cruz Azul and his mother’s name is Maria Bernard Gimenez. He is of mixed ethnicity as his paternal grandfather is from Paraguay and of Italian ancestry through his mother’s side. He is also a Christian baptised in January 2019.
Career
Gimenez began his career at the youth level with Cruz Azul in 2014. He made his professional debut with Cruz Azul in a 1-1 draw with Tigres UANL, on August 2, 2017.
He signed a four-year contract with Feyenoord on July 29, 2022, and scored his first goal for the club on August 27.
He represented Mexico at the under-16 level and was called up to the senior team for training, in September 2020. He scored the only goal in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final against Panama on July 16, 2023.
