Enner Valencia was born Enner Remberto Valencia Lastra on November 4, 1989, in San Lorenzo, Ecuador. He is originally from Esmeraldas Province and of Afro-Ecuadorian descent. He is from a poor background and struggled to make ends meet.

Career
Enner Valencia began his football career at the youth level with Caribe Junior and Emelec. He played for Emelec senior team where he won the Ecuadorian Cup in 2013 and also won the Copa Sudamericana Golden Boot.
He played for Pachuca in Mexico before joining the English club West Ham United for an estimated fee of £12 million, in 2014.
He was on loan at Everton for a season before he was sold to Mexican club Tigres UANL in 2017.
He later signed for the Turkish club Fernabahçe on a free transfer on August 28, 2020.
He made his debut for the Ecuador national team in 2012. He represented the country at the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2022, and the Copa America in 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2021. He scored two goals in 2-0 victory against the host country Qatar in the opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
