Early Life
Jungkook was born Jeon Jung-Kook on September 1, 1997, in Busan, South Korea. He was raised by his parents alongside his elder brother.
He went to Baekyang Elementary and Middle School in Busan, and graduated from the arts high school, School of Performing Arts Seoul, in 2017. He received his degree from Global Cyber University’s Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment, in March 2022. He was awarded the President’s Award, the school’s highest honour.
Career
Jungkook began his career in 2011 when he auditioned for the South Korean talent show Superstar K, for which he was not selected.
He decided to be a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment after seeing the performance of RM, now his fellow band member and leader in BTS. He worked as a backup dancer when he appeared in Jo Kwon’s “I’m Da One” music video, in June 2012.
He began doing music with inspiration from the likes of Usher, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake.
Golden Maknae as fondly called ranked as the third most-loved celebrity of the year 2019 in South Korea. He became 2019 and 2020 most-searched male K-pop idol on Google. He was the most searched K-pop idol on YouTube in 2019 and 2020.
He released three solo singles; Begin in 2016, Euphoria in 2018, and My Time in 2020.
He featured by the American singer Charlie Puth on the single “Left and Right” in 2022. He released “Dreamers” for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
He is also credited with other songs like Stay Alive, Perfect Christmas (with Jo Kwon, Joohee, RM, and Lim Jeong-hee), Like a Star with RM, I’m in Love with Lady Jane, and so on.
