Lalla Hirayama was born on February 10, 1988, in Hiratsuka, Kanagawa-ken, Japan, as the only child of her parents. She was raised in an old school typical Japanese way.
Her mother, Itsuko Hirayama is from Japan, while her father, Lance Cooper, is a white South African of Jewish descent. She is from a diverse background: Buddhism, Shinto, Judaism, and Christianity. She had her early years in Japan before she moved to Australia and later to South Africa at the age of six.

Hirayama came to the limelight as a presenter on the show “Scar Tissue” on the DStv channel Vuzu, after which she joined the prime time, live celeb gossip show V Entertainment while becoming a live continuity presenter for the channel. While still at Vuzu, she starred as “Bianca” on the bio-weekly soapie “Zone 14” on SABC1 and joined the Tropica Island of treasure team a few months later. She also co-hosted the reality hip-hop dance show ‘Masters of Rhythm’ on Vuzu from mid 2011.
