Born Gabrielle Monique Union-Wade on October 29, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska, United States to parents Sylvester E. Union, a military sergeant and Theresa, a Social worker. Her parents parted ways after years of marriage. She grew up with her siblings Kelly Union and Tracy Union.
She obtained a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
