Early Life
Vidya Balan was born on January 1, 1979 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India, to parents, P.R Balan and Saraswathy Balan. Her father is the executive vice-president of Digicable and her mother is a homemaker. She has an elder sister named Priya Balan, who works in advertising. Actress Priyamani is her second cousin.
She was raised in Mumbai where she had high school education at St. Anthony Girls High School. She obtained a bachelors degree in Sociology at Xavier’s College and also a masters degree from the University of Mumbai.
Career
Vidya developed passion for acting at a very early age and came through with her first role in the sitcom Hum Paanch in 1995. She began her career in films and also starred in several television commercials and music videos.
She made her film debut in the Bengali film Bhalo Theko in 2003. She followed up with successes in Lage Raho Munna Bhai in 2006 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007.
She is credited for role in the drama Paa (2009), Ishqiya (2010), Kahaani, The Dirty Picture and so on.

Personal Life
Vidya Balan was rumored to be in a romantic relationship with her co-actors but she denied the reports. She announced that she was dating Siddharth Roy Kapur, the CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, in an interview in May 2012. The two love birds got married in a private ceremony in Bandra, Mumbai on December 14, 2012.
She is also trained in Carnatic music and studied the dance forms of Bharatnayam and Kathak.
