Early Life
Liza Koshy was born on March 31, 1996 in Houston, Texas, United States to parents; Indian father and a mother of German descent. Her father, Jose Koshy is a petroleum executive while her mother, Jean Carol is a yoga instructor. She is the youngest of the family and has two older sisters, Olivia and Rahel.
She attended Lamar High School and also major in business marketing at the University of Houston.
She also learned to speak the Spanish language.
Career
Koshy began her career on the Vine platform in 2013 where she post comic videos. She had 7 million followers before Vine closed in 2017.
She became popular on YouTube platform in 2016 where she interviewed president Barack Obama on her YouTube channel.
She was away from the YouTube platform for sometime to focus on acting only to return in 2019 and began adding new videos.
As an actress Koshy played the role of Violet Adams in the horror series, Freakish, in 2016. The same year, she got the role of Adam Walker in the horror-comedy feature movie, Boo! A Madea Halloween.
She played a recurring character, The Explorer, in the YouTube Premium mystery-reality series Escape the Night, in 2017. She co-starred in the Netflix dance-comedy film “Work It” in 2020 and voiced Zipp Storm in the 2021 Netflix film My Little Pony: A New Generation.
She already boast of more than 17 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, 18 million followers on Instagram and 26 million followers on Tik Tok. She was named by Time in its 2019 list of the 25 most influential People on the internet. She was also named by Hollywood Reporter in its 2017 list of “15 Rising Crossover Stars”.
