Nico Paz was born Nicolas Paz Martinez on September 8, 2004, in Santa Cruz, Spain. His father is Pablo Paz, a former Argentine international who played at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.
Career
Nico Paz began his career at the youth level with CD San Juan in 2011 and went through the youth ranks of Tenerife and Real Madrid in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
He started up as a central defender before he switched to to being a Centre-Forward and then moved to the wings. He later became comfortable at the middle of the pitch being a central midfielder.
Paz made his debut for Real Madrid B team in January 2022 where he came on as a substitute for Ivan Morante in a 3-1 victory against Andorra.
He made his Real Madrid first team breakthrough on November 8, 2023 after coming on as a substitute for Federico Valverde at the Champions league group stage match against Braga. He made his La liga debut in a 5-1 win against Valencia on November 11, 2023 and scored his first goal in the champions league in a 4-2 win over Napoli.
At the international level, Paz who is eligible to represent both Spain and Argentina, was called up to the Argentina national team in March 2022. He represented Argentina at the under-20 level for the 2022 Maurice Revello tournament in France.
