Born Mohamed Sanousy Simakan on May 3, 2000, in Marseille, France, to Guinean parents. He had his French nationality through his mother’s naturalization.
Career
Mohamed Simakan began his career at the youth level with Vivaux Marronniers in 2008 and went through the youth academy of FC Bruz, FC Rougulere, Marseille, JO Saint-Gabriel, SC Airbel, and Strasbourg from 2009 to 2019.
He signed his first professional contract with Strasbourg on May 16, 2018 and made his professional debut in a 3-1 victory against Maccabi Haifa at the UEFA Europa League, on July 15, 2019.
He joined German club RB Leipzig on a five-year contract on March 22, 2021. He scored his first UEFA Champions League goal in a 4-1 defeat against Shaktar Donetsk on September 6, 2021.
