Mateu Alemany was born on February 24, 1963, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. He has a very good educational background and graduated from the University of Balearic Islands in 1985.
Career
Alemany began his career in the early 1990s when he took charge of the Spanish football club RCD Mallorca as the Deputing Managing Director from June 1, 1990, to June 30, 1993. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Club till August 31, 2000, and became the president of the club from September 1, 2000, to June 30, 2005. He made lots of achievements with the team, having recorded a victory in Copa del Rey in 2003. Then, he bought the team star player, Samuel Eto’o for around 7 million euros and sold to Barcelona for 24 million euros.
He was appointed manager of the club side Valencia on March 27, 2017, and his contract with the club ended on November 7, 2019.
Alemany became the Director of Professional Football for the Football Club Barcelona on March 26, 2021, with his contract expected to run till June 30, 2023.
