Early Life
Ice Spice was born Isis Naija Gaston on January 1, 2000 in Bronx, New York City, United States. She is the eldest child in a family of five children. She grew up in the Fordham Road neighbourhood with her four siblings. Her father, Joseph Gaston, who is an African-American, was a former underground Rapper, and her mother, Charina Almanzar, a Dominican, worked at a car dealership.
She attended Sacred Heart High School, a Catholic High School in Yonkers and also proceeded to the State University of New York.
Career
Ice Spice developed passion for music at the age of seven. She grew up listening to the likes of Lil Kim, 50-Cent, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Wu-Tang Clan.
She began to rap professionally after being introduced to the record producer, RiotUSA. She met with the producer after she caught his attention with her “Buss it” challenge which went viral on twitter. RiotUSA produced her debut song “Bully Freestyle” released in March 2021.
Ice Spice came to the limelight for her single “Munch (Feelin U)” as released on August 10, 2022, and accompanied with a lovely visual.
She was featured by B-Lovee on the song “One Time” in September 2022, and the same period, she signed a record deal with 10k projects and Capitol Records.
She followed up with the release of the single “Bikini Bottom” on October 28. She eventually released her debut EP, Like…?, on January 20, 2023.
