Franck Kessié was born Franck Yannick Kessié on December 19, 1996, in Ouragahio, Ivory Coast. His father was a professional footballer before joining the Ivorian army. He later passed away after a brief illness.

Career
Franck Kessié began his football career at the youth level with Stella Club d’Adjame, in 2010 and promoted to the first team in 2014.
He joined the Itakian club Atalanta on January 29, 2015, and was initially assigned to the club’s Privavera squad before being called up for the first team in a 1-1 draw against Roma, on April 18, 2015.
He went on a one year loan to Cesena in the Serie B and became a starter with 4 goals in 37 appearances for his side.
He returned from loan to Atalanta and signed a two year loan deal with AC Milan with obligation to buy, on June 2, 2017.
He made his debut for Milan in the first leg of the Europa League qualification match against CS U Craiova . He scored from the penalty spot in a 3-0 win against Crotone, in Milan’s first Serie A match of the season, on August 20, 2017.
He helped his side secured the Scudetto title after scoring the third goal in a 3-0 win over Sassuolo, on May 22, 2022.
He agreed a 4 year deal with Barcelona on July 4, 2022, and made his debut for the club in a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano in the league, on August 13, 2022.
At the international level, Kessié represented Ivory Coast at the under-17 and under-20 levels before being given called up to the senior team in a 2-1 home victory against Sierra Leone for the 3015 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, on September 6, 2014.
