Early Life

Pedri was born Pedro Gonzalez Lopez on November 25, 2002 in Tegueste, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.


Pedri began his football career with the Juventud Laguna in 2015 and joined Las Palmas youth setup in 2018.

He signed a professional four year contract with Las Palmas at the age of 16 while being promoted to the first team.

He made his professional debut in a match against Huesca in the Segunda division where lost at home by a goal. He scored his first goal for the club in their victory against Sportin Gijon.

He joined Barcelona football club on September 2, 2019, where he agreed to a two year contract.

He became part of the main team in the 2020-21 season and was given the number 16 shirt. He played his first match in a 4-0 win against Villareal where he replaced Phillipe Coutinho. He had his first start in a 0-1 loss against Getafe. He scored his first goal for the club on his first Uefa Champions league match, which was a 5-1 win against Ferencvaros, where he replaced Ansu Fati in the 61st minute.

Pedri scored his first goal in La Liga in a 5-2 win against Real Betis.

He signed a new contract with Barcelona in October 2021 with a €1 billion release clause.

Pedri was called up to the Spain Under-21 squad on August 21, 2020 and played his first match on September 3, in a 1-0 win against Macedonia, in a qualifying match for the 2021 UEFA European U-21 championship.

He was called up for the Spain senior team in March 2021 and made his debut in a match against Greece.

Pedri was included in the squad for UEFA EURO 2020. He played in the match against Sweden which ended goaless draw and also started in the last-16 against Croatia where Spain won by 5-3 in extra time. Spain got to the semi-finals but were eventually eliminated by Italy who went on to win the competition.


Pedri became the youngest goalscorer at Las Palmas at the age of 16.

He won his first trophy of his senior career with Barcelona for their 4-0 win against Athletic in the Copa del Rey final.

He won the 2021 copa trophy as awarded by France football to the best performing player under the age of 21.

He was voted the Young Player of the Tournament at the Euro 2020.
