Early Life
Ashleigh Megan Plumptre was born on May 9, 1995 in Leicester, England. She went to Melton Mowbray for her primary school education. Her grandfather was born in Nigeria.
Career
Plumptre developed interest in football at the age of 4 and joined Leicester City e tre of Excellence at the age of 8.
She played football at the youth level with Ashford by Amateaurs, Leicester City, Birmingham City and Derby County. She also had a college career at USC Trojans in 2016.
She made her senior debut for Notts County in 2014 before joining LA Galaxy OC in 2019. She later joined Leicester City in 2020.
Plumptre represented England at the Under-17, Under-19, and under-23 levels and choose to represent Nigeria at the senior level. She became qualified to play for Nigeria through her paternal grandfather who is a Yoruba man from Lagos State part of Nigeria.
She made her debut for Nigeria in a 2-0 victory against Ivory Coast at the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualification. She also played at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
