Alejandro Balde was born Alejandro Balde Martinez on October 18, 2003, in Barcelona, Spain. He is of mixed ethnicity; his father is a Bissau-Guinean and his mother, is a Dominican.
Career
Alejandro Balde began his football career at the youth level with RCD Espanyol and later joined Barcelona at the age of eight.
He signed a contract renewal with Barcelona in July 2021, until 2024 with a release clause of 500 million euros.
Balde was introduced into the Barcelona senior team by coach Xavi and made his debut in the pre-season summer of 2021. His amazing performance during the pre-season earned him a starting line-up in the Barcelona La Liga campaign. Despite Barcelona having lots of talents in the squad, which include the likes of Jordi Alba, Hector Bellerin, and Sergi Roberto, who also play a similar role, Balde has been able to earn himself a spot in the team.
He made his debut in the Uefa Champions League in a 3-0 loss to the German club, Bayern Munich, where he came on as a substitute for Jordi Alba in the 74th minute, on September 14, 2021.
On the international level, Balde has represented Spain at the under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, and under-21 levels. The Spanish national team coach, Luis Enrique is also considering a call-up for Balde, for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, following his impressive performances.
