The recent outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo has become a concern over its widespread in the country.
The deadly virus was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River which is now called the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Ever since then, the virus has spread over and infected people of African countries with some rare cases being reported in US, UK, Russia, Italy, Spain and so on, according to the Centre of Disease Control and Prevention.
According to the DRC health ministry data as of May 19, the recent outbreak in the country has raised concerns with 46 people showing symptoms of the virus including 21 confirmed cases of Ebola.
The possible causes of Ebola are:
1. Coming in Contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected or dead animals.
2. Consumption of infected wild animal meat.
3. Touching objects that have come in contact with the virus.
Infected Animals includes the likes of Chimpazees, gorillas, fruit bats, monkeys, forest, antelope and porcupines found ill or dead in the rainforest.
Of all the animals, Fruit bats are considered to be natural Ebola virus hosts according to WHO.
The symptoms of the deadly disease are Fever, sore throat, vomitting, muscle pain, Intense weakness, severe headache, Impaired liver and kidney fucntion.
