Sonya Smith was born on April 23, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.
She is of mixed ethnicity as her father, Federick Smith is an American while her mother, Ileana Jacquet is a German-born Venezuelan actress. Her parents divorced when she was very young and she lived with her mother in Venezuela.
She can also speak the English, German and Spanish language fluently.
She attended the Universidad Central de Venezuela where she studied Psychology. She also has a nursing degree.
Career
Sonya came to prominence in the 1990s for her lead role of Estrellita Montenegro in the telenovela Cara Sucia.
She starred in the telenovela Olvidarte Jamas in 2006 and also played the role of Fedora Gaviota in Accoralada in 2007.
She made her Hollywood debut with a role as Angella La Salle in Cyvork 7, starring alongside Ray Wise.
She also appeared in the Hollywood film, Ladron que roba a ladron, alongside the likes of Miguel Varoni, Gabriel Soto and Fernando Colunga.
