Early Life
Sandara Park was born in Busan, South Korea on November 12, 1984. She grew up alongside her two siblings, a brother named thunder and a younger sister named Durami Park. Her brother, Thunder is a former member of K-pop boy group, MBLAQ.
She is multi-lingual, she can speak her native Korean fluently and other languages like English, Chinese, Japanese, and Tagalog.
Career
Sandara Park began her career after participating in the talent show Star Circle Quest in 2004 and finished second place behind Hero Angeles.
She signed a contract with ABS-CBN subsidiary, Star Magic and was featured in her first film, Bcuz of U. She followed up with another role in 2005 titled “Can Be This Love” and D’Lucky Ones in 2006.
She delved into music and released her first project, a self-titled EP “Sandara”. The project sold over 100,000 copies and was certified platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI).
She adopted the stage name, Dara, and became part of the K-pop girl group 2NEI, in 2009. The group include the likes of Bom, CL, and Minzy. The group teamed up with label-mates Big Bang for the promotional single “Lollipop” and later released their first single titled “Fire”. The group also released their first EP “2NE1” and achieved success with the single “I Don’t Care”.
Park made her solo Korean debut in 2009 and released her first single “Kiss” featuring one of the 2NE1 members CL.
Group 2NE1 went on to release hit albums and records such as I Am the Best, I Love You, and Falling in Love.
Park made an appearance as a celebrity house guest in the telecast, All in Uber, and on the Philippine talk show, Gandang Gabi, Vice!.
Park renewed her contract with YG entertainment after the disbandment of the 2NE1 group in 2016. She would later leave YG after the expiration of the contract in 2021.
Aside from being an actress and singing, Park has made an appearance in lots of TV commercials and advertisements in the course of her career.
She got her first endorsement for Dong-A pens. She became the face of Tekki Asian classic noodles and promoted Canon, a Japanese camera.
