Early Life & Education

Samira was born on August 20, 1980 in Accra Ghana where she had her early education. She can speak numerous languages such as Ewe, Ga, Twi, Fanti and Mamprusi.

She was born into a political home to parents; Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, former National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and his wife Hajia Ayesha Ramadan.

She attended Answarudeed Islamic School, Akosombo International School and then proceeded to Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School for her secondary education.

She studied BA Social Science in Law and Sociology and Technology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She also holds masters of Business Administration at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Adminsitration.

Career & Recognition

Bawumia is the founder and CEO of the Samira Empowerment & Humanitarian Projects, which is a non profit organisation established for the main purpose of empowering the underprivileged ones in Ghana.

She also donated books to the Polica Basic School to help encourage the habit of reading in the children.

She became an ambassador for the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves where she joins former UN secretary General Kofi Annan, actor Julai Roberts and singer Rocky Dawuni to work with the Alliance.

She was also acknowledged in 2019 as the first of seven individuals honored by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll).
