Peter Drury ( born September 24, 1967) is an award winning British broadcaster and football commentator well known for his poetic style of commentary which is quite expressive and exciting at the same time. His commentaries have been outstanding for various football events which include The English Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.

Early Life

Peter Drury was born on September 24, 1967, in England. He attended St John’s School, Leatherhead in Surrey.

He also graduated from the prestigious University of Hull after his basic education.

Career

Peter Drury began having passion to be a football commentator at the age of 4 where he supported West Ham Football Club.

He was able to develop his passion with influence from his commentary idol, Peter Jones.

Prior to fame, Drury worked as an Accountant and also worked for Sportd Journalism agency Hayter’s.

He joined BBC Radio Leeds in March 1990, and later moved to Five Live, where he credited for the 1996 UEFA Champions League Final alongside Jon Champion and UEFA Euro 96, where he covered Group D Matches between Portugal and Turkey.

He moved to Broadcasting House in London in 1997 and joined ITV in 1998. During his time at ITV, he commentate on four World Cups (1998 – 2010) and four European tournaments (2000 – 2012). He is also known for his commentaries on the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League between 2001 and 2004. He is also credited for his commentary on the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final between Germany and Argentina at the Maracana Stadium.

Drury joined BT Sport in 2013 for their coverage of the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

He replaced Jon Champion in 2015, as the primary commentator in the Pro Evolution Soccer video game series. He also covered most of the Premier League Matches alongside co-commentator, Jim Beglin.

Drury signed with Supersport in 2019 and as at August 2020, he joined CBS sports (USA) for its UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League coverage.
