Early Life
Olu Okeowo was born on May 15, 1965, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, into the family of Pa Taiwo Victor Okeowo. His father was a businessman and a pastor while his mother was a full-time housewife. He had strict parents who made sure he stays indoors after school. He made it known that his father was a disciplined person who ensured all his children were trained along that path.
He had both his primary and secondary education in Nigeria and moved to Austria, where he briefly studied medical technology before proceeding to the Caribbean to study medicine.
He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Science degree by Wesley University, Ondo State.
Career
Olu Okeowo returned to Nigeria and began doing real estate businesses. The devaluation of the naira affected several businesses, which led him to venture into the business of making burglary proofs and iron-wrought furniture.
Over the years, he delved into construction and civil engineering and began building houses, hence, the birth of the real estate business, Gibraltar Construction Nigeria, a company specializing in Storage Tank Fabrication & Construction, Real Estates Sales & Leasing, and Building Renovation. One of the projects executed by the company is the luxurious Parkview Estate in Ikoyi, which houses the Palacio fe Okeowo mansion where Okeowo resides.
Aside from being a businessman, he is also a philanthropist with the Sir Olu Okeowo physiotherapy therapy centre, which he donated to the College of Medicine, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH.
