Tortorella began acting in 2009 with a role as Razor in the teen drama television series, Make It or Break It. He followed up with a small role as Tobias in the film Twelve. He also starred in the horror film Scream 4, in 2010.
He came to the limelight for his role as Jacob Wells in the Fox crime drama series The Following, and got more exposure for his role as Josh in the comedy-drama series Younger.
