Sabitzer was born on March 17, 1994 in Wels Austria to Herfried Sabitzer, a former Austria International. He is also a cousin to Thomas Sabitzer, a footballer.
Career
Sabitzer began his football career at the youth level with Admira Villach, Grazer Ak, I. Wiener Neustädter SC and Austria Wien before joining Admira Wacker youth academy.
He joined Rapid Wien in 2013 and signed a four-year contract with RB Leipzig on May 30, 2014 before going on loan for a season to FC Red Bull Salzburg.
He returned to RB Leipzig for the 2015-16 season and scored eight goals in 34 appearances.
He joined the German club Bayern Munich on a four-year contract on August 30, 2021, for a reported fee of £16 million. He signed for Manchester United on loan until the end of the season on February 1, 2023.
On the international level, he represented Austria at the under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-21 levels. He made his debut for the Austrian senior team in a goalless draw against Romania, on June 6, 2012. He also represented Austria at the UEFA Euro 2016, and UEFA Euro 2020.
