Early Life
Majeed was born Ekeh Chiaka Joseph on November 28 in Lagos, Nigeria, to parents Nze Oliver (father) and Nze Grace (mother). He is originally from Imo State, South-east part of Nigeria. He relocated to Ogun State at the age of 8.
He had his primary education at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, and his secondary education in Ogun State. He obtained a bachelors degree in Mass Communication at Iscom University, Benin.
Career
Majeed began doing music in secondary school while citing Tope Alabi, Baba Ara, Oliver de Coque, and Chief Osadebe as his musical influence.
He came through professionally as a songwriter for the Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay, where he released two promotional singles “Gee for Life”, and “Rocky Lo” featuring Seyi Shay in 2020.
He began to learn music production in late 2020. He produced the single “Time” and released it off his EP “Bitter Sweet” on February 19, 2021.
He signed a record deal with Dream Empire Music on August 20, 2021 and released an acoustic version of “Time” as his first official single under the imprint on January 6, 2022.
Majeed came through with his debut EP “Bitter Sweet” on March 25, 2022. The EP comprises of 6 tracks with production credits from the likes of Dalor Beats, Blaise Beatz, Mr Kleb and so on.
He became known for his single “Yawa No Dey End”, a record co-signed by Mavin CEO Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage. The song was released with Joeboy, through emPawa on April 29, 2022.
He released the official music video for “No Room for Love” on July 27, 2022, as directed by Olu Wave with cameo appearance from the Nigerian actress Sylvia Adora.
He got exposure for his hit single “Cry” (Shayo) which went viral online. The song recorded massive plays on various streaming platforms. Majeed songwriting credits include; “Give Me Chop” – Stainless featuring Seyi Shay, “No Wahala” – 1da Banton featuring Kizz Daniel and Tiwa Savage, “Stamina” – Seyi Shay featuring Calema.
