Maggie Q was born Margaret Denise Quigley on May 22, 1979, in Hawaii, United States. She is of mixed ethnicity, her father is of Irish and Polish descent and her mother is of Vietnamese descent.

She grew up in Catholic background alongside her four siblings.

She went to Mililani Waena Elementary School and Wheeler Intermediate School for her elementary education and proceeded to Mililani High School for her high school education.

Maggie Q won an athletics scholarship to a private university and wanted to study veterinary science but her family was unable to see to her financial needs.

Career

Maggie Q began her career as a model at the age of 17. She first tried her luck in Tokyo, Japan, and later Hong Kong.

She delved into acting in 1998 and came through with a role in the TV drama House of the Dragon. She made her film debut in the year 2000, with a role in the horror film, Model from Hell, and followed up with a role as Jane Quigley in the action thriller, Gen-Y Cops.

Jackie Chan was impressed with the way she interpreted her role in Gen-Y Cops and decided she should be one of the cast in his films Manhattan and Rush Hour 2.

She starred in the films Naked Weapon (2002), as Miss Clary in The Trouble-Makers (2003), Magic Chicken (2004), Around the World (2004), Rice Rhapsody (2005), and Dragon Squad (2005).

Maggie Q came to prominence for her role as Zhen Lei in the film Mission Impossible (2006). She played Mai Linh in the Bruce Willis movie Live Free or Doe Hard, in 2007. The same year, she featured as Maggie Wong in the film, Balls of Fury.

She made appearances in the films Deception (2008), The Warrior and the Wolf (2009), The Ling of Fighters (2010), and Priest (2011).

Maggie started alongside the likes of  Christopher McDonald, Mary McCormack, Diana Agron, and Frank Grillo in the film The Crash, in 2017 and protrayed Sarah in the comedy series, Pivoting in 2020.
