Early Life
Kumali Nanjiani was born on May 2, 1978, in Karachi, Pakistan, as the first son of his parents, Shabana Nanjiani, and Aijaz Nanjiani. He has a cousin named Shareen Nanjiani, a BBC radio presenter.
He grew up in a Muslim background and went to St. Michael’s Convent School for his secondary education and completed his A Levels at Karachi Grammaer School. He graduated with a double major in computer science and philosophy at Grinell College.
Career
Nanjiani began as a comedian where he made appearances on shows such as Michael & Michael Issues and The Colbert Report. He also performed at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in 2009.
He delved into acting and became known for his role as Dinesh in the HBO comedy series Sillicon Valley.
He got more exposure for his role in the romantic comedy film The Big Sick in 2017. He has starred in other movies such as; kingo in Eternals (2021), Jibran in The Lovebirds (2020), Jake in Duckbutter (2018), and Keanu in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016).

Nanjiani got married to Emily V. Gordon at Chicago City Mall in 2007.
His wife is a producer and author. She was the producer of The Meltdown with Jinah and Kumail.
