Early Life
Born Kagiso Rabada on May 25, 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is of mixed ethnicity, of Venda and Tswana ancestry. His father is a doctor and his mother Florence is a lawyer.
Career
Kagiso Rabada began with Gauteng in the CSA Provincial One-Day Competition against Border in December 2013.
He was chosen to represent South Africa’s under-19 side for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. His performances at the competition got him to the Lions franchise for their last two games of the Sunfoil Series Season.
Rabada signed a short-term deal for Kent County Cricket club in February 2016. He played in two County Championship and six T20 matches for the county during his time in England.
He was named Jozi stars squad for the first edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament in October 2018. He was also named in the squad for the Jozi stars team for the 2019 Mzansi Super League tournament in September 2019.
He was bought by the Delhi Daredevils team in February 2017, for the 2017 Indian Premier League for INR 50 million. He was bought again by Delhi capitals in January 2018.
Delhi Capitals retained him ahead of the 2019 Indian Premier League, where he played 12 matches in the League stage before he left for national duty.
Rabada was bought by the Punjab Kings for $1.2 million in the 2022 IPL mega auction. He became the fastest bowler in his 64th IPL match.
He made his Twenty20 international debut for South Africa against Australia on November 5, 2014, and made his One Day International debut for South Africa against Bangladesh on July 10, 2015. He was named in South Africa’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021.
