How Did Your Journey Into Comedy Start?
I started making skits on February 1, 2019. Because of my passion to become an actress, my pastor in school, Pastor Amanoh Chidiebere, advised that I should be doing skits and that was it.
What Inspires your Skits?
Firstly, I would say God because He is my major inspiration and the reason I do a lot of things successfully.
Secondly, I get my inspiration from things that happen around me– at home, school, market or any other place.
If I can relate to something and I get about three people who can also relate to that same thing, I shoot my skits.
When I was at the orientation camp of NYSC, I saw some things which inspired my skits.
Your Skits Are Usually centred on the character of an African mother. Is that Character a reflection of your mother?
Yes, my skits are a reflection of my mum. She is a typical African mother who is dramatic. However, the slapping and grammar are my own exaggerations that I add to spice the skits up. My mum is not the type that slaps one and she doesn’t speak verbosely. I just added those to make my skits unique.
What are the efforts you put into shooting your skits?
Sometimes, I sit down and think by myself. I pray to God sometimes when I feel the ideas are not coming. Then, I would relax and inspiration would begin to flow. I really do not script my comedy. Scripting actually limits me because I see that whenever I write scripts, I find myself trying to fit in. What I do mostly is to arrange my costumes, prepare my camera and shoot.
How has fame changed your lifestyle?
I have not got to the point where fame could change my lifestyle. For now, I am still pushing my career and trying to be a better version of myself. Where I want to get to in life is far from where I am now. I don’t think I have got to a quarter of where I want to get to in life. I am still me and I still have a long way to go. Nothing has changed.
