Early Life
James Charles was born on May 23, 1999, in Bethlehem, New York, the United States to parents Skip Dickinson and Christine Dickinson. He has a younger brother named Ian Jeffrey, who also works as a model.
He went to Bethlehem Central High School, for his high school education.
Career
Charles started as a local hairstylist in Bethlehem. He began posting makeup tutorials on YouTube in 2015 and became known as the first male brand ambassador for CoverGirl in 2016.
He unveiled a clothing line, Sisters Apparel and a makeup collection, the Sister Collection, by teaming up with the cosmetics brand Morphe Cosmetics, in 2018.
Having amassed over 10 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, Charles was responsible for the Australian rapper Iggy Azalea’s makeup for promotional art for her single “Sally Walker”, and also appeared in the song’s visual.
