Born Florian Richard Wirtz on May 3, 2003 in Brauweiler district Pulheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. His parents are his agents. His father, Hans Joachim, is also the chairman of Grün-Weib Brauweiler, Wirtz childhood club before joining Köln. He has an elder sister named Juliane Wirtz who also a professional footballer.
Career
Florian Wirtz began his football career at the youth level with Grün-Weib Brauweiler and went through the youth ranks of FC Köln and Bayer Leverkusen.
He made his senior debut for Bayern Leverkusen on May 18, 2020, in a match against Werder Bremen, where he overtook Kai Havertz as Leverkusen’s youngest player in the league at the age of 17 years and 15 days. He scored his first goal for Leverkusen in a 4-2 loss to Bayern Munich.
Witz represented Germany at the under-15, under-16, under-17, and under-21 levels. He was called up to the senior team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March 2021.
