Early Life
Eduardo Camavinga was born Eduardo Cemi Canavinga on November 10, 2002 in Cabinda, Angola. He was born to Congolese parents and has four siblings, two brothers, Sebastio and Celio and two sisters. His family moved to France when he was barely 2 years old.
Career
Camavinga was inspired to play football after their house was burnt down and the family’s property destroyed.
He started his football career with the Rennes youth at the age of 11. He came through professionally at the age of 16 and became the youngest ever professional for the club.
He made his professional debut for Rennes in a 3-3 draw with Angers on April 6, 2019, while also becoming the youngest player to play for Rennes’ first team. He scored his first goal for Rennes in a 1-0 win against Lyon on December 15, 2019. The goal came in the 89th minute of the game.
Camavinga left Rennes and signed a contract for the Spanish side Real Madrid on August 31, 2021, which will see him through June 30, 2027.
He scored his first goal for Real Madrid on his debut in a 5-2 win against Celta Vigo. He made his Champions League debut for Real Madrid on September 15, 2021, where he came on as a substitute for Luka Modric in the 80th minute and gave an assist to Rodrygo for the winner against Inter Milan.
Camavinga was also part of the Real Madrid Uefa Champions League 2022 title campaign, where he came on as a substitute in the 85th minute to help Real Madrid secure a 1-0 win over Liverpool.
On the international level, Camavinga played for the France under-21 team in a match against Georgia and Switzerland, in 2019.
He was called up for the France senior team on August 27, 2020 and became the youngest player to be called up to the French senior team after René Gérard in 1932.
He made his debut for the national team in a 4-2 win against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League after replacing N’Golo Kante in the second half of the match.
He scored his first international goal for France in a 7-1 against Ukraine, and became the youngest goalscorer for the French side since Maurice Gastiger in 1914.
