Former Vice president of Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme died on Sunday night, November 19 at a hospital in London and here we bring you things you might possibly not know about him.

Apart from being the vice president to president Shehu Shagari whose tenure ended when military officers led by Brigadier Muhammadu Buhari staged a coup that ousted the government on December 31 1983, here are the other things to know about him from his age, profile, net worth, wife to his origin:

1. Dr Alex Ifeanchukwu Ekwueme was born on October 21, 1932 and died on November 19, 2017.

2.  He is an indigene of Anambra state.

3. He is also the Ide of the Aguata Local government area of Anambra
state at the Oko community kngdom where his brother, Lazarus is the
traditional ruler.

4. He attended St. Anglican Central School, Ekwuolobia and also attended Kings College Lagos for his secondary education.

5. He attended University of London where he obtained a degree in Sociology, History and Philosophy.

6. He later attended University of Washington where he earned a bachelors degree in Architecture.

7. He also obtained a Ph.D in Architecture from the University of Strathclyde.

8. Alex Ekwueme started his professional career as an Assistant Architect with a Seattle based firm, Leo A. Daly and Associates, and also with the London based firm Nickosn and Partners.

9. He also worked with ESSO West Africa, Lagos, where he was in charged of the Construction and Maintenace department.

10. Alex Ekwueme founded the first Indigenous Architectural firm in Nigeria, Ekwueme Associates, Architects and town planners.

11. He was a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) council of elders.

12.  He got married to his wife, Beatrice on December 19, 1959, with their union blessed with three children.
