Early Life

Terry Pheto was born on May 11, 1981 in Mahikeng, South Africa and also grew up in Soweto.

Career

Pheto was discovered in a theatre group in Soweto by agent Moonyeenn Lee, during the casting process for Tsotsi.

She came through with her debut film feature in Tsotsi after which she showed up in other films such as; Goodbye Bafana, Catch a Fire and How To Steal 2 million.

She began to feature in several television series which include; as Lerato in Justice for All, as Pinky Khumba in Zone 14 and as Mbali in Jacob’s Cross. She also played the major role of Fikile in the SABC2 mini-series Hopeville, which was eventually adapted into a film.

Pheto left South Africa in 2011 for Hollywood and she got a recurring role of Dr. Malaika Maponya in the American soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful.

She has also featured in theatre productions like The Toilet and The Devils Protest.
