Career
Tonali began his football career at the youth level with Placenza in 2009 and went through the youth ranks of Brescia.
He made his professional debut for Brescia on August 26, 2017 and scored his first professional goal in a 4-2 loss to Salernitana in Serie B. He won the Serie B title with Brescia in 2018-19 season.
He joined AC Milan on loan on September 9, 2020 and later signed a five-year contract with the club on July 8, 2021.
He signed for the English club Newcastle United for a five-year deal on July 3, 2023, for a reported fee of €70 million. He scored the opening goal on his Premier league debut in a 5-1 victory against Aston Villa.
However, Tonali was banned on October 26, 2023 from playing football for 10 months for breaching Italian betting regulations.
