Early Life
Nestory Irankunda was born on February 9, 2006 in Kigoma, Tanzania to parents Gideon, a rideshare driver and Dafroza. He has seven siblings, two older brothers and five younger sisters. His parents were originally from Burundi, but fled their home due to the Burundi civil war and his father led the family to a refugee camp in Tanzania where Nestory was given birth to. When Nestor was barely 3 months old, the family moved to Perth in Western Australia and later relocated to the northern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia in 2013.
Nestor went to Parafield Gardens High School in Parafield Gardens, South Australia, for his high school education.
Career
Irankunda began his football career at the youth level with Northern Wolves SC and went through the youth set up of Parafield Gardens SC, Adelaide Croatia Raiders and Adelaide United.
He came through professionally in September 2021 after signing a scholarship contract and made his league debut in January 2022.
Adelaide United announced the sale of Irakunda to Bayern Munich on November 14, 2023, with the winger set to join the club on July 1, 2024.
He represented Australia at the under-17 level where he led the squad to qualification for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup. He was called up to the senior team on March 14, 2023, for the friendly match against Ecuador.
