Early Life
Mayra Andrade was born on February 13, 1985, in Havana, Cuba, to parents from Cape Verde. Her family moved to Cape Verde a few days after her birth, and this made her spend the early years of her life in Cape Verde. She travelled to different countries during her childhood, which includes Senegal, Germany, and Angola. She moved to Paris in 2002 until 2015, when she moved to Lisbon, Portugal.

Andrade began singing at the age of 17, where she performed in various Portuguese-Speaking regions such as Mindelo, Praia, and Lisbon.
She released her first album, Navega, in 2006. She followed up with a second album titled Storia, storia, in 2009. She released her third album, Studio 105, in 2010. Her fourth album, Lovely Difficult, was released in November 2013. The album was less traditional than her first three albums. It had songs in Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, French, and English. It features artists from the United Kingdom, Israel, France, and the United States.
She released her fifth album, Manga, on February 8, 2019. The album, which was recorded in Paris and Abidjan, features a blend of urban music, Afrobeats, and traditional Cape Verdean flows.
