Early Life

Lorna was born on July 3, 1983 in Gauteng, South Africa. She grew up in the Alexander town of Gauteng, where she had both her primary and secondary education.

She got her cooking skills from her mother who always ensured that she was present in the kitchen when cooking. She also gained foundational skills for ballerina after being part of the local dance class around her family residence.

Career

Lorna Maseko started out as a dancer for the Ballet Theatre Afrikan before she joined the South African Ballet Theatre company.

She delved into the television industry as presenter on South African Broadcasting Corporation in 2007. She was also a producer on Afro Showbiz News for SABC Africa.

She appeared as a judge on the popular South African reality competition show, So You Think You Can Dance. She also hosted the South African cooking competition series, Top Chef South Africa. She eventually started her own cooking and lifestyle reality show called, The Hostess with Lorna Maseko.
