Joao Felix Sequeira was born on November 10, 1999, in Viseu, Portugal. His father’s name is Carlos Felix and his mother is Carla Felix. He has a younger brother named Hugo Felix, who is also a footballer with Benfica’s youth team.
Career
Joao Felix began his football career at the youth level with Os Pestinhas, then to Porto youth team before arriving at Benfica youth team.
He started to play for Benfica youth team before being promoted to their first team in 2018. He won the league title with Benfica in his first and only season, where he won the Golden Boy award and the Primeira Liga’s Best Young Player of the Year.
He signed for the Spanish club, Athletico Madrid in 2019 for a club-record transfer fee of €126 million. He helped the club win the 2020-21 La Liga title.
Felix represented Portugal at the under-18, under-19, and under-21 levels, before being called up to the senior team on March 15, 2019, under the manager Fernando Santos.
He was selected for the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals and made his debut in a 3-1 victory against Switzerland. He scored his first international goal in a 4-1 home win over Croatia, in the 2020-21 UEFA Nations League.
