Ebenezer Onyeagwu was born on 3rd of February, in Nigeria. His brother Anthony Onyeka Onyeagwu passed away on November 5, 2021, at the age of 47.
He studied accounting at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma degree from the University of Oxford. He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School, where he had a senior management programme.
He qualified as a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in 1989 and became a fellow in 2003. He also attended Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia Business School of Columbia University, and the Harvard Business School of Harvard University.
Career
Ebenezer Onyeagwu began his career in the banking sector in 1991, where he joined the now defunct Financial Merchant Bank before he moved to the Citizen International Bank.
Onyeagwu joined Zenith Bank as a senior manager in 2002 and was made managing director and CEO in 2019.
He is the chairman of Zenith Pensions Custodian Limited and Zenith Nominees Limited. He is on the board of Zentih Ba k (UK) Limited, FMDQ Holdings PLC, Shared Agent Network Expansion Facilities (SANEF) Limited.
