Early Life
Ibrahim Traore was born in 1988 in Bondokuy, Mouhoun Province, Burkina Faso.
He had his primary education in Bondokuy and proceeded to Bobo-Dioulasso for his high school education. He also went to the University of Ouagadougou, where he graduated with honors.
He graduated as an officer from the Georges Namonao Military School.
Career
Ibrahim Tarore began his career in 2009 after joining the Burkina Faso army. He began to climb ranks and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2014, where he joined MINUSMA, a United Nations peacekeeping force.
Traore provided a helping hand in operations against the escalating jihadist insurgency, fought in the “Otapuanu offensive” of 2019 and other counter-insurgency in the country’s north.
He was promoted to Captain in 2020. He became part of the group of army officers that lend support to the January 22 Burkina Faso coup d’etat and brought the Patriotic Movement and Restoration Military junta to power.
Traore served as the head of an artillery regiment in Kaya from March 2022.
