Ashley got her first role in 1997 in an episode of Smart Guy and 7th Heaven. She appeared as a voice actor in An All Dogs Christmas Carol and A Bug’s Life in 1998. She made a guest appearance in an episode of the Boston Public in 2000. She continued to be featured in other television series and small roles in films like Donnie Darko in 2001 and the Mayor of Oyster Bay in 2002.
She came to the limelight for her role as Sharpay Evans in the Disney Channel film High School Musical.
