Agbani Asenite popularly known as Agbani Darego, is a Nigerian model and beauty queen born on December 22, 1982.
Darego is well known for being crowned as the Most beautiful Girl in Nigeria and also as the first native African to win Miss World.

Early Life & Background
Agbani Darego was born in Lagos but originally hails from Abonnema part of River state.
She is the sixth in a family of eight children. Her family relocated to Port Harcourt at the age of two where she grew up in D-LINE.
She also lost her mother at very young age to breast cancer.
Education
Darego went to Bereton Montessori Nursery and Primary School and Federal Government Girls’ College, Abuloma for her primary and secondary education respectively.
She studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Port Harcourt before she left for New York University where she studied Psychology and graduated in May 2012.
Career
Darego who already had passion for modeling as a teenager, auditioned for the N-Net Face of Africa modeling competition but was not chosen as a finalist.
However, she won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2001 and also became the first native African to win the Miss World title (Although past winners like South African Penelope Coelen and Anneline Kriel are of European descent and Egypt representative in 1954, Antigone Costanda is of Greek heritage).
Her Miss World titled paved more way for her as she got a three year contract with L’Oreal, becoming the second Black model to accomplish such after Vanessa Williams. She has also modeled for other brands such as Avon, Christian Dior, Sephora, Target and had also appeared in Elle, Marie Claire, Allure, Trace, Cosmopolitan and Essensc while working with numerous designers including Oscar de la Renta, Marc Bouwer, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Gianfrnco Ferre.
In Nigeria, Darego has appeared in advertising campaigns for hair care brand Gentle touch with model Oluchi and also served as the face of Arik Air. She has graced the covers of ThisDay Style, Complete Fashion, Mania, True Love, TW Magazine and so on.
Darego launched a style and fashion reality show Stylogenic on Nigerian television, and also has a denim range, AD by Agbani Darego which includes jeans, dresses, sunglasses and bags.
Personal Life
Darego got married to Ishaya Danjuma, son of Nigeria’s former defense minister and business magnate General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, in a ceremony held at Marrakesh, Morocco.
