Olanrewaju Michael Afolabi Teriba popularly called Atorise is a Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter from Ogun state.
Teriba is the 4th of the 5 children of his parents; Pa late Samuel Oladimeji Awomosu Teriba (father) and late Prophetess Mrs Hannah Atinuke Teriba (mother).
His father is originally from Isara-Remo in Ogun state while his mother is a native of Ifon in Ondo state.
He attended Christ Centre primary school, Ilupeju, Lagos and Estate Grammar School Oshodi, Lagos for his primary and secondary education respectively. He obtained a degree in Accounting at Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state.
He is simply a versatile singer with a unique talent and amazing vocals. lets get to know some other details about him.
Career
He spent most of his childhood at the church where he discovered his talent and passion for music.
He started composing and performing music while in school where he joined the Kegites club and began drawing the members closer to God.
After his degree, he searched for jobs for up to five years but couldn’t get one, so he decided to make do with his talent.
He began composing music while raising money for a demo until he met with a promoter, Tunde Olokodana who helped him to establish his music career in 1998.
Ever since then, Teriba has continued to strive and maintain his unique style which is a fusion of indigenous beats with other sounds known as “Tungba Gospel”.
Lanre Teriba eventually rose to fame in 2000 for his debut album “Atorise”.
Lanre has released more than 15 albums till date and has traveled across Africa and Europe.
