Megalyn Echikunwoke was born in Spokane, Washington, United States but raised in Chinle, Arizona on a Navajo Indian Reservation.
Her parents; Anita Laurie (mother) is of English, Irish and German heritage and her father, Onigwe Versato Echikunwoke is from the Igbo tribe of Nigeria.
She also has two siblings, a brother named Miki and a sister named Misty.

Echikunwoke started her acting career at the age of 14 where she was discovered in 1997 at a summer Art camp.
She became known for her amazing performance at the camp and started auditioning for roles. She eventually came to limelight in 1998 for her role on the tv series Creature.
Ever since Megalyn came to prominence, she has been a regular face on television series, shows and Hollywood blockbusters.
