Manchester United defender, Victor Lindelof has been named Swedish player of the year while surprisingly beating the team captain Andres Granqvist to the award.
Lindelof, 24, had performed above expectation in the four matches he played for Sweden at this summer’s world cup.
He had helped his side reached the quarter-finals before they were eventually knocked out by England.
Lindelof was so impressive, keeping clean sheets in Sweden matches against Mexico and Switzerland.
The panel has decided to give this year award to Lindelof for his outstanding performances including that of his club side Manchester United, where he had become first team regular in recent weeks.
