Tunisia Abolishes Ban Placed On Muslim Women Marrying Non Muslims
According to reports, Tunisis had scrapped the 44 year old ban placed on Muslim women marrying non-Muslims.


The presiency spokeswoman, Saida Garrach wrote on facebook: "Congratulations to the women of Tunisia for the enshrinement of the right to freedom to choose one's spouse.

This announcement had come after President Beji Ceid Essebsi calls for the government to scrap the ban dating back to 1973.

Before now, non-Muslims who wish to marry a Tunisian woman, had to convert to Islam and submit a certificate of his conversion as a proof.
